Christopher Dowd, Ph.D.

Christopher Dowd is a teacher and writer.

As an educator and scholar, he specializes in Irish-American literature and culture, ethnic studies, narratology, and game studies. He is the author of The Construction of Irish Identity in American Literature (Routledge, 2010), The Irish and the Origins of American Popular Culture (Routledge, 2018), and many scholarly articles, short stories, and essays that have appeared in journals and literary magazines.

Christopher received his B.A. in English from Fairfield Univeristy, his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Emerson College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut. He is currently a Professor at the University of New Haven, where he teaches in the Game Development and Interactive Media Program, and where he teaches in and chairs the English Department.
